New York State is home to the largest resource of tappable maple trees in the nation, and many of the maple syrup products made here come from our Catskill Mountains. From large state-of-the-art sugarhouses to old-fashioned backyard operations, this vibrant, growing industry produces some of the finest and purest all-natural maple sugar products anywhere.
Due to the unusually mild winter this year, the tapping season came early and production is in full swing. If you're curious about how maple syrup is made, join us for a state-wide Maple Weekend event when producers around the area open the doors to their sugarhouses and welcome you to observe and experience the careful process of tapping, boiling, filtering and bottling maple syrup. Come visit and enjoy a delicious outing with tours, samples, activities and more!
