East

Wide open spaces and wild mountain places!

The eastern side is the Gateway to the Catskill Park, and consists of the towns of Andes, Arkville, Bovina, Fleischmanns, Grand Gorge, Halcottsville,Margaretville, New Kingston, and Roxbury. It is home to our highest mountain peaks and only ski resort at Plattekill Mountain, the Catskill Scenic Trail- a 19 mile rail trail, the Delaware & Ulster Railroad, the western portion of the Catskill Forest Preserve as well as other state lands open to recreation, contains the headwaters of the east branch of the Delaware River, the Pepacton Reservoir, and Big Pond/Little Pond State Park with day use of the lake and camping. Add to that golf, kayaking, mountain biking.hikingsnowmobilinghorseback riding, an outdoor guide/rentals, and you’ve got four seasons of great outdoor fun.

The closest drive time to NYC, and is the most gentrified.  It has the most lodging choices available and hosts the largest farmers’ market at the historic Round Barn. Picture perfect parks for your wedding or family reunion. Great antiquing and quirky shopping, art galleries, flea markets and auction houses, restaurants and cafes, performing arts and a local theatre make for plenty of choices for whatever moves you.
