Summer requires cool waters....we've got lots of it.
We know summer is all about the water. And while most folks know we've got the rivers.....we also have the lakes too! Here are some great water resources you can experience:
Big Pond Little Pond State Park - also a state campground and complete with hiking trails, Big Pond offers day use rates, with swimmingon the 13 acre pond when lifeguards are present only. Call ahead. Rowboat, paddle boat, kayak and canoe rentals are available. Located in the southern edge of Andes off State Highway 30 and County Highway 1 to the reservoir road. East Sidney Recreation Area - the only body of water that allows motorized boating on it. On the Ouleout Creek between Franklin and Unadilla is open from mid-May throught mid-September. There is a beach, playgrounds, picnic area, campgrounds, and boat lunch. 4659 State Highway 357 • Franklin, NY 13775 Phone: 607-829-3528
Meredith Lake - Just north of Delhi to the Meredith border on County Route 14. Please use the southern side of the lake as the northern side is private land.
Pine Lake Environmental Campus - Just of State Hwy 23 outside of Davenport , this incredible campus is part of Hartwick College. Besides hiking trails, a peat bog, and natural amphitheatre, the lake is open to members only but the public is welcome to join (individual starts at $25).. Lake Oquaga - Oquaga Creek State Park offers a 55-acre Arctic Lake and has a sand beach for swimmers, and anglers can fish for black bass, bullheads and rainbow trout. On the western most edge of Delaware County off County Highway 7 outside Masonville or north of Deposit. Visit the NYS Parks and Rec website for more info.
Belleayre Lake - located on State Highway 28 just east of Fleischmanns is the Lake. Complete with lifeguard, picnic areas and beach - it's a great safe place for a family swim outing. For more info and parking rates visit www.belleayre.com
Alder Lake - located in the Balsam Mountain Lake Wild Forest Area owned by the State of New York, Alder lake is 22 acres wide with a 1.5 mile hiking trail around it. Located 8 miles south of Margaretville at the end of Alder Creek Road (County Route 54) in the Town of Hardenburgh, Ulster County. Boating is allowed - Only 200 yards from the parking lot you can hand-launch boats.. Electric motors are allowed, but gasoline motors are prohibited. For more information visit the DEC website.
Bear Spring State Park - Launt Pond does NOT have a lifeguard this summer - so no swimming there.
Ask your lodging host about their favorite swimming hole nearby. Swim indoors at SUNY Delhi's pool with special times for public access. The following villages have public pools: Andes, Downsville, Franklin, Fleischmanns and Walton.

Labor Day Weekend!
August draws to a close with plenty of things to do as we gear up for a great Labor Day.
August is our favorite month. There are still blueberries to pick and the farmers markets are bursting with great food. Farm tours are great family fun
We've got new events like the Veggie for a Day Music Festival at Turquoise Barn in Bloomville Saturday 8/28. Or check out the ReDesign Store contest in Roxbury on the weekends through 9/21. Combine that with Turn of the Century Days weekend fun Labor Day weekend and the Keator Cup vintage baseball games.
